Pilot Program to be launched the Summer of 2008 beginning with one block.
The Adopt-A-Block program allows residents to take control of the condition of the block on which they live. The program will begin on a block to be selected in the summer of 2008. Residents will be asked to take responsibility for the block. The program will include the maintenance of vacant lots, securing and boarding of vacant structures, development of usable greenspaces, and assistance with home improvements. All work will be completed by neighborhood residents with assistance from the Idora Neighborhood Association. The first block will be selected based on the amount of residents willing to get involved.
